We were founded in 1953 as Moody Air Force Base Federal Credit Union, originally offering credit union membership to base employees and their immediate family. Since then, we've changed our name and our charter to serve anyone who lives in our fourteen-county area. From our modest beginnings with just one branch office on base, we've grown to eight branch offices serving more than 26,000 members and growing. We've seen a lot of changes through the years, but one thing remains the same — we are committed to serving our members by providing the best financial products and services to improve their quality of life.

What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a financial institution like a bank, except we're a not-for-profit financial institution. Unlike a bank, we don't focus simply on making money. Instead, we reinvest any profits earned back into the credit union in order to offer our members the best products, services, and rates. Anyone who opens an account at a credit union becomes a member-owner, meaning they own a share of the credit union. Members have a say in how the credit union is run and elect an unpaid board of directors to make decisions on behalf of all member-owners. We think these differences make us unique and your best choice for a financial institution.

How do I join?

Joining is easy! Anyone who lives or works in our fourteen-county field of membership is eligible to join. This includes Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Pierce, Tift, Thomas, Turner and Ware counties. If you are a business or legal entity in one of the above counties, you may join as well. Credit union membership is also a family affair; immediate family of members can join no matter where they live.  And once a member, always a member!

Not for profit, but for service.

Since credit unions began in the 1850s, they've had a simple but unique concept — if individuals pool their money together, they can provide a valuable credit source that would not otherwise be available. This notion of “people helping people” has been the guiding principle for Southeastern since our founding in 1953. Giving back to our communities and helping one another is what we are built on. Not-for-profit, but for service is the credit union way. Experience the difference today by becoming a member of Southeastern Credit Union!
